Birthing season at The Alpaca Loom happens twice each year: From mid March to mid May, and again from mid October to mid December.
Our first cria of the season has been born this week, and has been called Eben, after the son of the family who spotted that the dam was in labour and witnessed the birth.
There are 25 more crias due to be born in the next eight weeks, giving you the unique opportunity to get closer to these fluffy newborns on their long spindly legs.
And who knows – maybe you are one of the lucky ones witnessing a birth even?

Alpaca Barn Tours take place daily at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00 and there is no need to make a booking at these times.
Cost for the Alpaca Barn Tour is R80 for adults, R60 for pensioners & students and R50 for children, kids under 3 are free.
Duration is about 45 minutes.

Entrance to the shop, weaving studio and petting zoo is free.
You can at all times feed and interact with the alpacas in the petting zoo as well as watch our weaver at work.
